Virginia RN to BSN Online Program Highlights
Carson-Newman’s (C-N) Online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) degree program enables licensed RNs in Virginia to gain more control over their careers by learning how to employ evidence-based practice and utilize critical thinking skills. The Online RN to BSN program allows most RNs to qualify for advancement opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable at the Associate’s Degree in Nursing level. RN-BSN students graduate as more complete nursing professionals who can improve overall patient outcomes by asking the right questions and treating the whole person, not just the symptoms.
Through the Online RN to BSN program at Carson-Newman, licensed RNs can become prepared to be autonomous caregivers by utilizing professional ethics, patient advocacy and servant leadership principles to improve patient and community health. Many health care providers and hospitals insist on the BSN as a minimum credential for employment or advancement. Virginia RNs can take advantage of C-N’s Online RN to BSN degree, designed for working nurses, to take the next step in their nursing practice.

The National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice has recommended that at least two-thirds of the basic nurse workforce hold baccalaureate or higher degrees in nursing, to meet the complex demands of today’s health care environment.
This indicates that, in general, registered nurses with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN) will have more opportunities for positions and career advancement. By completing the Online RN to BSN program, Virginia RNs can become better prepared to utilize knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology, determine outcomes and evaluate results.
