About

Dr. Wood, who earned the PhD in Nursing from the University of Tennessee, joined the C-N faculty in 1993 and was Chair of Nursing until 2021. Her clinical specialty is maternal-infant nursing and she is certified as a High-Risk Perinatal Nurse and as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.

She is interested in Qualitative research and currently teaches the Undergraduate Research course.

Married to her husband Sam, Dr. Wood has 2 adult children and one grandchild. She attends Monte Vista Baptist Church where she is the keyboardist. An avid costume designer and seamstress, Dr. Wood is the Costume Coordinator for the Appalachian Ballet Company.
