Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner
The accredited online MSN-FNP program has been nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a Best Online Master's Nursing Program (2020). Students develop the knowledge and skills to become holistic and confident FNPs or advanced practice nurses. Preceptors may support students for up to 600 clinical rotation hours.
Online Post-Master’s Certificate – Family Nurse Practitioner
The accredited online PMC-FNP program is uniquely designed for MSN-prepared RNs who wish to earn their FNP licensure. The program takes a holistic approach to nursing, preparing gradu.ates to influence and improve the health of individuals, families, and entire communities. Preceptors may support students for up to 480 clinical rotation hours.

Preceptor FAQs
See below for frequently asked questions about being a preceptor.
A preceptor is an experienced and licensed practitioner who provides professional instruction and supervision during clinical practice, and facilitates the application of theory to practice for nursing students.
- Unencumbered license to practice medicine in the state where the preceptorship will take place.
- Engaged in an active practice directly affiliated with the rotation.
- Unencumbered license to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice.
- Eligible to practice in an advanced practice role as deemed appropriate by the state’s Board of Nursing.
- Board-certified as a Nurse Practitioner or APRN.
- Functioning as an advanced practice nurse in a primary care or approved specialty practice setting.
Preceptors have the opportunity to provide immediate feedback and a more formal assessment of student performance in the form of written evaluations.
The time commitment varies by program and clinical rotation.
