About

I started out in nursing as an LPN in 2007.  I continued with my educational goals and ultimately achieved my DNP in 2012.  I've had the opportunity to work in a wide variety of areas including skilled nursing facilities, correctional health, trauma critical care, and infectious disease.  I am currently practicing as an FNP in a bariatric surgery practice.  I am passionate about educating professionals that are well prepared for all the challenges in healthcare today.  This includes expanding the knowledge base, modeling compassionate care, and encouraging professional development and advocacy.

Although my professional life as a Nurse Practitioner and professor is extremely important, my family is my most important life's work.  My husband is my biggest supporter and any success that I enjoy can be directly linked to him.  Together, we have 5 children on our small homestead.

When I'm not chasing kids, cows, pigs, goats, turkeys, and chickens; I enjoy participating in obstacle course races with my husband, or working on my MMA skills.  I value getting outside and trying new things, but certainly can appreciate a quiet morning on the front porch with a cup of coffee as well!
